Check the area around this school
3rd of 15 secondary schools in Salford we can score, 16 in total — the rest without enough published data. Local and same-phase on purpose: a national table mostly measures who attends.
Narrow the comparison to schools whose pupils have similar backgrounds and it does better still — 8.6/10 against 556 of them, against 7.0/10 nationally. Both figures are results only, without the inspection grade. A lower figure here means a stronger comparison group, not a weaker school.

What Ofsted said about All Hallows RC High School
Overview
All Hallows RC High School continues to be a good school, characterised by a "strong family ethos" and high aspirations for all pupils. Students develop academically and socially in an environment where they feel "safe and secure," supported by positive relationships with staff and peers.
Strengths
- Leaders have designed a "broad and ambitious curriculum" that prepares pupils well for their next steps, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
- Teachers use "strong subject knowledge to enthuse pupils" and effectively check for understanding, quickly responding to misconceptions.
- The school’s reading programme is successful in "broadening pupils’ horizons" and encouraging a love of reading, with tailored support for weaker readers.
- Pupils behave well and appreciate that teachers are "fair, understanding and guide them to manage their own behaviour."
- Staff feel well supported, with a "positive staff ethos" and leaders mindful of workload.
Areas to improve
- In a very small number of subjects, teachers do not design some aspects of learning effectively, meaning pupils are not making the same gains as in other subjects.
- Some pupils lack a sufficiently secure understanding of key subject-specific vocabulary, which hinders their ability to make links with previous content.
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective, with a "highly knowledgeable safeguarding team" providing effective support and clear procedures for reporting concerns.
