All Saints CofE First School

Overview

All Saints CofE First School continues to be a good school, where leaders maintain high aspirations for all pupils. The report highlights that pupils are happy, safe, and achieve well, supported by a curriculum that is carefully considered in most subjects.

Strengths

• Leaders have high expectations, and pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), respond well and achieve well.
• The curriculum is carefully planned in many subjects, enabling pupils to learn what is most important and build knowledge systematically.
• Reading is central to the curriculum, with staff using creative methods like ‘secret storytellers’ to develop pupils’ love of reading.
• Pupils with SEND are identified early, receive good support, and are fully included in all aspects of school life.
• Pupils behave well, are polite and respectful, and understand how to maintain positive relationships and handle bullying.

Areas to improve

• Leaders should ensure that the books pupils read are all closely matched to the sounds that they are learning to prevent slowed progress in reading.
• Leaders should ensure that all areas of the curriculum make clear the important knowledge they want pupils to learn, as some units contain too much content or lack clarity.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective, with a strong culture where staff are quick to spot signs of risk and receive regular training.
