All Saints CofE Infant School

Overview

All Saints CofE Infant School has “taken effective action to maintain the standards identified at the previous inspection.” This ungraded inspection confirms that the school remains a “caring and welcoming” environment where pupils are “happy and safe” and achieve well. The report highlights a strong ethos that fosters positive relationships and high expectations for behaviour.

Strengths

• Children in the early years make an “excellent start” with a “well-sequenced curriculum” that nurtures confidence and creativity.
• The curriculum beyond the early years effectively prepares pupils for key stage 2, with a core priority on developing vocabulary and using “increasingly complex technical terms.”
• Reading is prioritised with “high-quality books” and effective phonics teaching; pupils with additional needs receive support to “catch up” and achieve well.
• The school “swiftly identifies the needs of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND)” and provides effective pastoral and academic support.
• Staff workload is “managed well,” and leaders show “consideration for their well-being,” supported by positive partnerships with local schools and trustees.

Areas to improve

• The use of assessment to check understanding is “not always applied with enough rigour,” meaning misconceptions are sometimes not addressed timely and some pupils do not receive appropriate activities to deepen knowledge.

Safeguarding

The report states that “the arrangements for safeguarding are effective.”
