All Saints R.C. Primary School

Overview

All Saints R.C. Primary School provides a "warm, friendly and inclusive environment" where pupils’ well-being is central, resulting in very good behaviour and high levels of happiness. While teachers are developing the Curriculum for Wales and pupils show positive attitudes towards learning, the report notes that low expectations and over-direction hinder the development of independent learners.

Strengths

• Pupils demonstrate "very good" behaviour, showing respect to staff and concern for one another.
• Nearly all pupils are happy and enjoy attending school.
• Many pupils effectively develop their speaking and listening skills from low starting points.
• Pupils possess a "sound understanding of number" and are beginning to apply numeracy and digital skills across other areas.
• Staff create an inclusive atmosphere with pupils’ well-being at its heart.

Areas to improve

• Teachers’ expectations of pupil achievement are "often too low," and adult over-direction limits pupils’ ability to become independent learners.
• Written feedback does not help pupils improve their work "well enough."
• Pupils’ ability to write at length is "less well developed."
• The school’s ability to identify the most important areas for improvement, such as curriculum quality, is "not effective enough."
