Check the area around this school
19th of 97 primary schools in Shropshire we can score, 127 in total — the rest without enough published data. Local and same-phase on purpose: a national table mostly measures who attends.
Narrow the comparison to the 4,174 schools whose pupils have similar backgrounds — a tougher field — and it places 6.5/10 among them, against 7.2/10 nationally. Both figures are results only, without the inspection grade. A lower figure here means a stronger comparison group, not a weaker school.
How this is worked out
| Measure | Percentile | Weight | Adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Expected standard (RWM) 2024/25 | 71.0 · 68 | 40% | 2.73 |
| Ofsted | 52 | 35% | 1.82 |
| Higher standard (RWM) 2024/25 | 13.0 · 78 | 25% | 1.94 |
Each measure is read as a position among comparable schools, so a school in the middle of the country scores 5. Full method.

What Ofsted said about Baschurch CofE Primary School
Overview
Baschurch CofE Primary School continues to be a good school, where leaders have created an environment in which every child feels valued and well cared for. Pupils are extremely proud of their school and exhibit high levels of independence, particularly in the early years. The curriculum is ambitious and well-planned, with a strong emphasis on reading and Christian values that shape positive behaviour.
Strengths
- Leaders have designed a ‘well-planned and ambitious curriculum’ that links learning to pupils’ interests and local knowledge.
- Reading is a high priority; staff are skilled in delivering phonics, and books are ‘accurately matched to pupils’ phonics knowledge’.
- Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are well supported, with secure systems for identifying and meeting their needs.
- Behaviour is excellent, underpinned by ‘The Baschurch Way’, which sets out Christian values such as respect, kindness, and perseverance.
- Parents and carers are highly supportive, feeling the school is part of their ‘extended family within the community’.
Areas to improve
- Leaders’ assessment systems are inconsistent in some foundation subjects, preventing accurate assessment of what pupils know and remember.
- Some subject leaders do not evaluate the impact of their subject sufficiently well, meaning they lack clarity on how well the curriculum is implemented.
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective, with staff well trained to spot signs of abuse and neglect, and concerns recorded accurately and followed up in a timely manner.
