Beaumont College - A Salutem/Ambito College

Overview

Beaumont College continues to be a 'good' provider, offering specialist education for students with physical, sensory, or learning difficulties. The report highlights a positive environment where students feel safe, confident, and proud of their achievements, supported by a thoroughly reviewed curriculum tailored to individual needs.

Strengths

• Students 'enjoy their time at college' and have developed significant 'confidence and resilience' through staff support.
• Education staff and therapists 'skilfully plan activities' and use assistive technology to effectively support communication and mobility.
• The curriculum provides 'five distinct personalised pathways' that help students progress towards adulthood, independence, and employment.
• Leaders ensure students develop 'strong links to the local community', such as collaborating with local museums on accessibility.
• Staff use detailed assessments and person-centred planning to ensure each student’s learning 'builds incrementally' on their existing skills.

Areas to improve

• Governors must 'challenge leaders rigorously' and hold them to account to ensure self-assessment processes effectively improve provision quality.
• Leaders should ensure teachers’ feedback is 'meaningful and memorable', particularly for students with sensory difficulties, by recording it for review.
• Leaders must increase access to work experience placements so students can develop skills and make informed decisions about their 'next steps after college'.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are 'effective', with leaders establishing a 'culture of protection' and staff receiving comprehensive training to keep students safe.
