Bordesley Green East Nursery School

Overview

Bordesley Green East Nursery School has taken effective action to maintain the standards identified at the previous inspection. The setting provides a nurturing environment where children feel safe, secure, and supported to explore with confidence. Leaders have ensured stability and structure, particularly benefiting children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).

Strengths

• Staff support children to settle well, using kindness and patience to help them feel secure and build confidence.
• Children enjoy creative activities, such as painting, moulding clay, and building structures, which fire up their imagination.
• Staff communicate with clarity, helping children grow their vocabulary and understand how stories work through repeated readings.
• The school’s distinctive thematic approach helps children develop a sense of identity and understand how the world works.
• Leaders work effectively with parents and outside agencies to identify and meet individual children’s needs.

Areas to improve

• Staff should further develop their expertise to consistently support children’s independence, ensuring they do not do things for children that the children can do themselves.
• The school should replicate the success of its indoor curriculum in the outdoor learning environment, which is currently underdeveloped in terms of resources and staff training.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
