Brackla Primary School

Overview

Brackla Primary School is described as a "happy and welcoming school" where pupils and staff feel cared for and thrive within a successful learning culture. Leaders work purposefully with the governing body to secure improvements, fostering a community where staff are keen to develop their skills and teaching quality is "consistently good."

Strengths

• The school has fostered a culture where pupils and staff feel proud and want to "do their best."
• Leaders have developed the learning environment well, making good use of outdoors and breakout spaces to support independent and collaborative skills.
• The curriculum "takes account of pupils’ interests and reflects the Curriculum for Wales successfully."
• Teachers are skilful and ensure pupils "apply the skills they have in other areas of learning purposefully."
• Most pupils, including those with additional learning needs, "engage well in their learning, make good progress and achieve well."

Areas to improve

• Teachers' feedback "does not always challenge pupils to improve their work sufficiently."
• The school must improve the quality of feedback so pupils understand what they do well and what they need to do to improve.

Safeguarding

Staff place a "strong emphasis on supporting the well-being of all," working closely with pupils and families to tailor support to individual circumstances.
