What Ofsted said about Brimington Manor Infant and Nursery School
Overview
Brimington Manor Infant and Nursery School is described as being held in “high regard” by parents and central to its local community. The report highlights that pupils feel safe, enjoy positive relationships, and benefit from a curriculum that clearly identifies key knowledge, particularly in early reading. However, the inspection notes that the curriculum is not yet fully implemented in all subjects and that behaviour for learning remains inconsistent.
Strengths
- Pupils enjoy a “themed approach to the curriculum” and feel supported by “positive, warm relationships” with staff and peers.
- A new approach to early reading is having a “positive impact on pupils’ outcomes,” with staff providing extra support for those with gaps in phonic knowledge.
- Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities learn the same curriculum as their peers and are “well supported” to succeed.
- Staff report a “strong sense of collaboration and team play,” and leaders have worked to reduce workload.
- Governors receive accurate information to help them make the right checks to further improve the school.
Areas to improve
- Leaders must complete curriculum adaptations in remaining subjects so pupils can “retain and recall knowledge” as well as in other areas.
- Leaders need to ensure behaviour systems are “fully established” so that pupils’ conduct is consistent throughout the school day.
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective, with leaders ensuring systems meet statutory duties, staff receiving regular training, and concerns being logged and passed on promptly.
