• Nursery practitioners make “highly effective use of outdoor spaces” to promote “thinking, curiosity and enquiry.”

Areas to improve

• Senior leaders should develop “clear measures to evaluate their success in improving outcomes for children.”
• Staff should continue to develop opportunities for children to “lead their own learning and apply their skills in real-life and meaningful contexts.”
• Staff should review support for children needing additional help, identifying “specific targets that help demonstrate more clearly children’s progress and successes.”
• Leaders and teachers should further develop their use of progress information to plan improvements in attainment.
