Campie Primary School

Overview

The inspection found a "warm and welcoming ethos" where children are "friendly, polite and articulate" and proud of their school community. However, the report identifies significant weaknesses in the nursery class and satisfactory performance in primary stages, requiring additional support and a follow-up inspection within one year.

Strengths

• There is a "warm and welcoming ethos" with staff and children proud to be part of the community.
• Children are "friendly, polite and articulate," with primary pupils able to relate school values to "real-life experiences."
• Senior leaders and teachers have "worked together effectively to improve approaches to teaching writing," resulting in improving outcomes.

Areas to improve

• Senior leaders must ensure they "understand and comply with all statutory duties" regarding nursery management.
• Leaders must implement "rigorous and consistent quality assurance processes" to improve strategic leadership and learning quality.
• Staff need to improve how they "plan and assess children’s learning" to make more reliable judgements against national standards.
• Additional funding must be used more effectively, with closer monitoring of intervention impact to "close the attainment gaps."

Safeguarding

The report does not explicitly detail safeguarding arrangements, but notes that senior leaders must ensure compliance with "all statutory duties and responsibilities" applicable to managing the nursery.
