Cedar Integrated Primary School

Overview

The inspection was significantly constrained by industrial action, as teaching staff did not cooperate with inspectors. Consequently, the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) was “unable to assure... of the quality of education being provided” and could not evaluate core areas such as outcomes, provision, or leadership.

Strengths

• Year 6 pupils spoke positively about their learning, highlighting enjoyment of art, ICT, reading, and after-school activities.
• Children demonstrated active participation in school life through roles as ‘Eco Warriors’, School Council members, and organisers of fundraising events.
• Safeguarding arrangements were found to “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education”.
• Pupils reported feeling safe and were “very clear about staying safe online”.

Areas to improve

• The school must address the impact of staff non-cooperation, as the ETI could not evaluate the quality of curriculum, teaching, or leadership.
• The school is designated a “high priority for future inspection activity with no further notice”.
• Appendix A notes that “part of the fence is in a state of disrepair”.

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education” and that children feel safe, though the ETI was “unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements” due to the industrial action.
