Chiron Online Education Platform

Overview

Chiron Online Education Platform meets all minimum standards for online education set by the Department for Education. The inspection found that leaders have successfully created a "safe, sensitive and nurturing online environment" where positive relationships are central to the provision. Pupils, many of whom have struggled in mainstream settings, are supported to re-engage with learning through bespoke, interest-led teaching.

Strengths

• Leaders and teachers "know their pupils extremely well," using this understanding to identify learning gaps and adapt the curriculum to individual interests, such as gaming or music.
• Teachers display "secure subject knowledge" and use effective questioning and online resources to ensure pupils are "engaged in their lessons" and make strong progress towards their targets.
• Parents and pupils are "extremely positive" about the provider, praising staff for their care and the effective communication regarding attendance and wellbeing.
• Safeguarding arrangements are "appropriate" and rooted in strong relationships, with rigorous recruitment procedures and secure device monitoring to keep children safe.

Areas to improve

• Leaders are further developing the physical education scheme of work so that it "reflects the strengths seen in other curriculum areas."
• Leaders are looking to further develop assemblies to ensure all pupils, including those on part-time timetables, "benefit from the full breadth of topics covered" in PSHE and SMSC education.

Safeguarding

The report states that arrangements for keeping children safe are "appropriate," noting that while online visits provide limited assurance compared to face-to-face inspections, policies are concise, staff are well-trained, and proactive measures are in place to identify risks.
