Christ the King Primary School

Overview

The inspection was conducted during industrial action involving "action short of strike," resulting in non-cooperation from teaching staff. Consequently, the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) was "unable to assure... of the quality of education being provided for the children." The school is designated as a "high priority for future inspection with no further notice."

Strengths

• A group of Year 6 children "talked positively about their opportunities to undertake leadership roles," such as serving as ‘digital leaders’ or on the school council.
• Children spoke "enthusiastically about the range of external visitors" who encourage them to keep themselves and others safe.
• Children reported that they "feel safe in the school" and are aware of procedures if they have safety or welfare concerns.
• Senior leadership cooperated with the inspection regarding their safeguarding responsibilities.

Areas to improve

• The employing authority, governors, and staff must "plan for, and manage, issues related to the sustainability of the school provision and school budget."
• The school needs to "review its child protection and safeguarding policy to reflect more fully the current guidance issued by the Department of Education."

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding arrangements "reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education," though the ETI was unable to fully evaluate their outworking due to the industrial action.
