Church Gresley Infant and Nursery School

Overview

Church Gresley Infant and Nursery School continues to be a good school, placing itself at the heart of its community. Pupils are described as happy and safe, with a strong emphasis on respect, independence, and high behavioural expectations. The school fosters a positive environment where staff work well together and pupils flourish through a wide range of opportunities.

Strengths

• The curriculum is ambitious, enabling pupils to learn important knowledge over time, particularly in music and the study of the world.
• Reading is a high priority; children make a swift start in learning to read and develop a genuine love of books.
• Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) access the same curriculum as their peers and are supported effectively to achieve well.
• Staff work well together with a strong team ethos, and the school places staff well-being high on the agenda.
• The school prioritises personal development, offering clubs, choir performances, and opportunities for pupils to engage with democracy via the school council.

Areas to improve

• The school has not ensured that the well-planned curriculum is taught as effectively as it could be at all times, meaning some pupils do not always learn as well as they could.
• Leaders should ensure the curriculum is delivered in a way that enables all pupils to know, remember, and do more over time.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
