Clover Hill VA Infant and Nursery School

Overview

Clover Hill VA Infant and Nursery School has taken effective action to maintain the standards identified at its previous inspection, where it was judged outstanding for overall effectiveness. The report describes a "warm and ambitious" environment where pupils thrive, feel safe, and are proud to belong. Leaders have designed a broad curriculum that reflects the school’s values, ensuring high expectations for every pupil.

Strengths

• Pupils demonstrate "excellent" behaviour, with clear routines that support concentration and kindness.
• Teaching is "consistently expert," with staff identifying and addressing learning gaps quickly through targeted support.
• The school supports pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) well, with staff receiving effective training to adapt teaching.
• Attendance has "improved significantly" due to leaders’ close work with families and careful analysis of absence patterns.
• The personal development offer is "wide-ranging and well planned," including high-quality experiences in sport, music, and the arts.

Areas to improve

• The school should continue to embed recent improvements to writing so that pupils use their knowledge and skills with increasing independence across all subjects, as some do not yet apply writing skills confidently in different contexts.
