Overview

Leaders and staff work with dedication to create a "positive and caring learning community" where pupils feel safe and are encouraged to be proud of themselves. Most pupils make good progress in literacy and numeracy, supported by a successful whole-school approach to the Curriculum for Wales and a strong culture of inclusion.

Strengths

• Pupils "thoroughly enjoy coming to school" and demonstrate "strong mutual respect" between all pupils and staff.
• "Pupils’ oracy skills across the school are a strength," with most making good progress in developing literacy and numeracy.
• There is a "strong culture of inclusion" where pupils are given equal opportunity to be involved in all aspects of school life.
• Staff successfully support pupils with additional learning needs, fostering "positive attitudes to learning" and notable collaboration.
• Leaders have placed "well-being at the heart of the school," supported by a "strong sense of teamwork" among staff and Governors.

Areas to improve

• Improve pupils’ digital skills, as they "do not develop their digital skills well enough" as they move through the school.
• Develop pupils’ independent skills, as teaching is currently "over directed" with limited opportunities for independence.
• Develop the outdoor provision for pupils under seven years old, as opportunities to develop curiosity and creativity in the outdoor environment are "underdeveloped."

Safeguarding

Pupils feel safe in school and are confident that they can speak to staff if they are concerned or worried.
