Overview

Corpus Christi Catholic High School is described as a well-led institution where faith and high-quality care are central to enriching pupils’ lives. The report highlights that pupils enjoy school, achieve well, and benefit from a culture of collaboration and mutual respect. Senior leaders prioritise well-being and have established robust support systems, though some aspects of curriculum development and self-evaluation require refinement.

Strengths

• The school provides "extremely high-quality care, support and guidance," which positively impacts pupils’ well-being, behaviour, and engagement.
• Leaders have developed "highly effective approaches to support pupils in overcoming barriers to learning," particularly for vulnerable learners.
• There is a strong culture of safeguarding that "permeates throughout the school," with robust procedures keeping all pupils safe.
• Teachers maintain "suitably high expectations" and provide appropriate challenge and support, fostering a sense of pride among staff and pupils.
• The school has developed a clear vision for the Curriculum for Wales in collaboration with partner primary schools.

Areas to improve

• Self-evaluation processes lack precision in teaching and learning, resulting in improvement priorities that are "too broad."
• The provision for digital skills is at an "early stage of development."
• The school does not currently "promote the use of the Welsh language strongly enough" outside of Welsh lessons.

Safeguarding
