Crawley Green Infant School

Overview

Pupils enjoy attending school and have strong relationships with staff who provide support and high expectations. The school delivers an ambitious curriculum with effective early years provision and prioritises reading, resulting in most pupils becoming confident readers by Year 2.

Strengths

• Pupils engage enthusiastically in lessons, responding well to "well-chosen learning activities and questioning".
• The curriculum is "ambitious and broad", with staff ensuring learning builds over time and checking what pupils remember.
• Early reading is prioritised through consistent phonics teaching and well-matched books, leading to "improving phonics screening check outcomes".
• Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are "carefully identified and assessed" with personalised support ensuring they achieve well.
• Pupils develop personal skills through leadership roles, community projects, and experiences that broaden their understanding of the world.

Areas to improve

• The school must ensure it checks curriculum implementation in a few foundation subjects to identify if amendments or additional training are needed.
• The school needs to fully implement its behaviour policy consistently to address incidents where a small number of pupils disrupt learning.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
