Crosfield Nursery School

Overview

Crosfield Nursery School continues to be a ‘good’ school, providing a ‘highly inclusive’ and ‘caring and nurturing environment’ where children ‘thrive, be happy and safe’. Leaders have developed an ‘aspirational curriculum’ that ensures children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, are well-prepared for the next stages of their education.

Strengths

• Children settle quickly and are ‘keen to play together’ in ‘well-resourced indoor and outdoor areas’.
• Staff build ‘strong working relationships’ with families, with parents noting the school has ‘gone above and beyond’.
• The curriculum sets out a ‘clear sequence of knowledge and skills’, with adults effectively supporting children’s counting and physical development.
• There is a ‘strong focus on children’s personal, social and emotional development’, encouraging kindness and positive friendships.
• Staff workload is managed effectively, fostering a culture of ‘genuine commitment to teamwork’.

Areas to improve

• The school must ensure adults develop ‘high-quality interactions’ to secure the development of older children’s ‘vocabulary, language and communication’, which currently limits the deepening of some children’s thinking.

Safeguarding

The report states that ‘the arrangements for safeguarding are effective’.
