Crowle CofE Primary School

Overview

Crowle CofE First School has taken effective action to maintain the standards identified at the previous inspection. The school provides a broad education within a caring environment, where pupils are described as “happy and safe” and behave very well. It remains highly valued by parents and carers.

Strengths

• Pupils are “incredibly polite and act responsibly,” demonstrating high standards of behaviour linked to school values.
• Reading is a high priority; staff teach phonics well, leading to pupils becoming “confident readers” who achieve high standards.
• The early years curriculum is carefully considered, with staff effectively modelling vocabulary so children’s language skills develop swiftly.
• The local academy board and trustees “support and challenge the work of the school effectively,” helping to maintain performance.
• Staff workload is well managed, and their well-being is supported appropriately.

Areas to improve

• In a few subjects, important concepts, knowledge, and vocabulary are inconsistently implemented, meaning pupils do not remember key information across the whole curriculum.
• The curriculum for some pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) is inconsistently adapted, affecting their achievement.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
