Dromore Road Primary School

Overview

The inspection was conducted during industrial action, meaning teachers did not cooperate with inspectors. Consequently, the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) states it is “unable to assure parents/carers... of the quality of education being provided for the children.” The report notes that “no performance level available” for outcomes, provision, or leadership, and the school is a “high priority for future inspection with no further notice.”

Strengths

• Children from years 6 and 7 “engaged maturely with the inspectors” and spoke “very positively about their enjoyment of learning.”
• Pupils reported feeling “safe and secure in school” and knew “what to do and who to speak to if they have any concerns.”
• Safeguarding arrangements were found to “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education.”
• The school participates in a “well-established shared education partnership with a local maintained primary school.”

Areas to improve

• The employing authority, governors, and staff must “plan for, and manage, issues related to the sustainability of the school provision.”
• The school is advised to review its “positive behaviour and attendance policies” in light of its “changing context and enrolment.”

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education,” though the ETI was “unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements” due to the industrial action.
