Dysart School

Overview

Dysart School continues to be an outstanding school, described as a "caring and nurturing" environment where pupils are happy and feel safe. The inspection confirms that leaders are ambitious for pupils’ achievement, particularly for those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), ensuring they frequently surpass the outcomes set in their education, health and care plans.

Strengths

• Staff are "genuinely happy" to see pupils, creating a welcoming atmosphere where children are taught to treat others with kindness.
• The curriculum is highly personalised, with content broken into small steps so pupils "build knowledge cumulatively over time," including tailored pathways for sixth-form students.
• Early reading and communication are prioritised, with all staff trained in phonics and nonverbal pupils supported through symbols and devices.
• Pupils are actively encouraged to share their views, such as meeting local council representatives to improve train station accessibility.
• Behaviour management has been revamped, resulting in lessons that are "calm and orderly" with learning not disrupted by unsettled behaviour.

Areas to improve

• The report identifies no significant areas for improvement.

Safeguarding
