Overview: Educate U meets all of the independent school standards checked during this inspection. The school has made significant progress in addressing the weaknesses identified at the previous inspection, and leaders are resolute in their determination to ensure that the standards are met consistently well.

Strengths:

• The school has a carefully designed curriculum with appropriate schemes of work that inform each pupil’s bespoke learning programme.
• Staff understand pupils’ Education and Health Care (EHC) plans well and are adept at identifying the knowledge and skills pupils need to learn to meet their targets.
• Pupils benefit from knowledgeable staff and well-informed teaching, and their work demonstrates that they are learning well.
• The school maintains comprehensive records of any safeguarding concerns, using an online system to record them, and works closely with external agencies to ensure that pupils and their families get the help they need to keep safe.
• The school understands the additional vulnerabilities of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities and staff have a secure understanding of the potential safeguarding risks for the pupils.

Areas to improve: The report identifies no significant areas for improvement.

Safeguarding: The school maintains a comprehensive programme of regular training and briefings to update staff about safeguarding matters, and pupils benefit from a positive culture of vigilance, with strong, secure relationships between staff and pupils.
