Firpark Primary School

Overview

The inspection team found that senior leaders and staff have established an "inclusive school culture," resulting in children engaging well and making "good progress in learning." While the school is rated as "good" for raising attainment and achievement, learning, teaching and assessment are evaluated as "satisfactory," with specific areas identified for further development.

Strengths

• An inclusive culture leads to children "engaging well, making good progress in learning and sustaining positive levels of attendance."
• Children are "becoming increasingly successful in listening, talking, reading and numeracy."
• Approaches to health and wellbeing help children build skills for learning, including "personal success in swimming."
• The Parent Council provides "strong support to children and the school," influencing "meaningful change for children with additional support needs."

Areas to improve

• Senior leaders and staff should "continue to develop approaches to planning learning" and improve how they "track the progress children are making."
• Staff should develop "creative approaches to teaching and learning," including increased use of outdoor spaces, the local community, and digital technologies.
• Staff must ensure all children participate in "challenging learning matched to their needs" and provide more opportunities to develop writing skills.
