Frizington Nursery School

Overview

Frizington Nursery School continues to be a good school, providing a warm and secure environment where children arrive with enthusiasm. Leaders deliver a broad, ambitious curriculum that supports strong development in communication, language, and early reading, ensuring children are well-prepared for primary school.

Strengths

• Children feel safe and secure, forming "warm and positive" relationships with adults and separating happily from parents.
• Leaders provide a "broad, ambitious and exciting curriculum" that benefits all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
• Adults are "experts at promoting children’s communication and language skills," helping children feel confident to share thoughts and ideas.
• Early reading is a high priority, with many children able to "read and write a range of simple words" before leaving for Reception.
• Staff work effectively to identify children needing extra help, ensuring timely support and strong achievement for those with SEND.

Areas to improve

• In a small number of areas of learning, leaders have not identified all essential knowledge or the order in which children should learn it, preventing staff from ensuring children learn everything they need to know.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective, with clear procedures for reporting concerns and regular staff training to keep children safe.
