Check the area around this school
106th of 197 primary schools in Cambridgeshire we can score, 210 in total — the rest without enough published data. Local and same-phase on purpose: a national table mostly measures who attends.
Narrow the comparison to schools whose pupils have similar backgrounds and it does better still — 4.7/10 against 2,283 of them, against 3.9/10 nationally. Both figures are results only, without the inspection grade. A lower figure here means a stronger comparison group, not a weaker school.
How this is worked out
| Measure | Percentile | Weight | Adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Expected standard (RWM) 2024/25 | 57.0 · 32 | 40% | 1.29 |
| Ofsted | 52 | 35% | 1.82 |
| Higher standard (RWM) 2024/25 | 7.0 · 51 | 25% | 1.27 |
Each measure is read as a position among comparable schools, so a school in the middle of the country scores 5. Full method.

What Ofsted said about Godmanchester Bridge Academy
Overview
Godmanchester Bridge Academy has taken effective action to maintain the standards identified at the previous inspection. The school provides a calm and supportive environment where pupils feel happy and safe, underpinned by high expectations for achievement in reading and mathematics. While the curriculum is ambitious and well-established in core subjects, the report notes that the wider curriculum is still developing in its consistency and local relevance.
Strengths
- Pupils demonstrate the school’s ‘5 Rs’ (ready, respectful, responsible, resilient, reflective) and enjoy engaging play activities, returning to lessons eager to learn.
- Staff provide excellent emotional support, including movement breaks, creating settled classrooms and helping pupils manage their feelings effectively.
- Reading provision is strong, with staff accurately modelling sounds and providing precise support for pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
- The therapeutic behaviour policy, based on relationships and emotions, has reduced suspensions and improved pupil engagement.
- Attendance has improved through careful tracking and appropriate support for patterns of absence.
Areas to improve
- Teachers should support pupils to develop the depth of their writing across the full range of different styles, as some pupils do not consistently produce writing of the high quality they are capable of.
- The wider curriculum should be further developed to be better tailored to the local context and provide a greater range of experiences to deepen pupils’ knowledge, as current learning can sometimes be too generic.
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
