Golfhill Primary School

Overview

Education Scotland inspectors visited Golfhill Primary School in October 2023 and evaluated its work across four quality indicators, all of which were judged as “good”. The report highlights a positive school culture where children feel “valued and included” and staff work effectively with families. While the school demonstrates strong leadership and wellbeing practices, the inspection identified specific areas regarding attainment and assessment that require further development.

Strengths

• Senior leaders create a “welcoming, nurturing place to learn” where children and adults are “respectful and kind”.
• Staff know children and families well, successfully improving wellbeing “in partnership with parents and the wider community”.
• There are “successful approaches to supporting children with additional support needs”, ensuring they engage well with learning.

Areas to improve

• Senior leaders should “prioritise more clearly the areas for development that will improve children’s attainment further”.
• All staff should “improve their understanding of standards further and how they check children’s progress in their learning”.

Safeguarding

The report states that staff are “improving all children’s wellbeing in partnership with parents and the wider community” and that children feel “valued and included” in a nurturing environment.
