Hadfield Nursery School

Overview

Hadfield Nursery School is described as a "happy place" where staff maintain "warm and encouraging" relationships with children. The school successfully prepares pupils for their next steps through an "ambitious curriculum" and strong community links, fostering empathy, resilience, and independence.

Strengths

• The curriculum is "highly ambitious," with clear "Hadfield Goals" shared with parents to support learning at home.
• Staff prioritise "early language development," using song, rhyme, and quality books to build confidence and vocabulary.
• Children develop strong social skills and empathy through community visits, such as to a local residential home for the elderly.
• The school is "inclusive," effectively identifying the needs of children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and seeking appropriate external support.
• Attendance is a "high priority," with the school working closely with families to ensure regular attendance.

Areas to improve

• Curriculum adaptations for children with SEND do not always "precisely match their needs," meaning some children do not access intended learning as effectively as their peers.

Safeguarding

The report states that "the arrangements for safeguarding are effective."
