Ham Drive Nursery School and Day Care

Overview

Ham Drive Nursery School and Day Care continues to be a good school, where children are at the very heart of provision. The report highlights that warm relationships and well-established routines enable children to develop emotional security, confidence, and exemplary independence.

Strengths

• Children benefit from an "ambitious curriculum" designed collaboratively with staff and parents, featuring ten clear goals covering resilience and exploration.
• Staff effectively adapt activities to children’s interests and developmental needs, ensuring inclusive learning where children work "at their own pace."
• Communication and language are a high priority, with staff using strategies like Makaton signs and modelling language to help children build skills and follow multiple instructions.
• Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities receive "effective support" through carefully designed interventions that positively impact self-esteem.
• Governors and staff work successfully together with a "sharp focus on developing excellent practice," fostering a positive and inclusive ethos.

Areas to improve

• The school must refine its curriculum milestones to "identify the specific knowledge and vocabulary it wants children to learn and build on over time," as current milestones do not specify this clearly enough.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
