Check the area around this school
104th of 281 primary schools in Norfolk we can score, 343 in total — the rest without enough published data. Local and same-phase on purpose: a national table mostly measures who attends.
Its results hold up when the comparison narrows to schools whose pupils have similar backgrounds — 3.7/10 against 3,141 of them, against 3.8/10 nationally. So this is not simply a reflection of who attends. Both figures are results only, without the inspection grade. A lower figure here means a stronger comparison group, not a weaker school.
How this is worked out
| Measure | Percentile | Weight | Adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Expected standard (RWM) 2024/25 | 62.0 · 44 | 40% | 1.74 |
| Ofsted | 52 | 35% | 1.82 |
| Higher standard (RWM) 2024/25 | 3.0 · 29 | 25% | 0.73 |
Each measure is read as a position among comparable schools, so a school in the middle of the country scores 5. Full method.

What Ofsted said about Hingham Primary School
Overview
Pupils love their school, where teachers are kind and help them with their work. Leaders have successfully improved the curriculum since the last inspection, resulting in pupils achieving well in most subjects. The report states that the overall effectiveness, quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and early years provision are all ‘Good’.
Strengths
- Pupils enjoy learning because there are ‘lots of different and interesting subjects’ and achieve well in most areas.
- Behaviour is good, supported by the effective mantra ‘onboard’, which ensures pupils immediately stop and listen.
- Staff help pupils make swift progress in reading, ensuring all pupils read fluently by the end of Year 3.
- Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities receive effective support and make good progress from their starting points.
- The new governing body has a good understanding of the school and provides effective challenge and support to leaders.
Areas to improve
- In a few subjects, curriculum leaders have not had enough time allocated to work effectively with teachers or monitor subjects, meaning pupils’ progress is not consistently strong. Leaders should ensure all curriculum leaders have the time needed to support planning and teaching.
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective, with ‘highly robust systems’ helping leaders check that all pupils are safe and staff being well trained to spot and report concerns.
