Holy Family Primary School, Aughamullan

Overview

The inspection was significantly limited by industrial action, as teaching staff did not cooperate with inspectors. Consequently, the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) states it is “unable to assure parents/carers... of the quality education provided for the children.” The report concludes that the school is a “high priority for future inspection with no further notice.”

Strengths

• Year 6 children spoke “confidently and positively” about opportunities for leadership roles and participation in after-school activities.
• Pupils reported receiving “good help” from teachers and peers to improve their work.
• Children spoke confidently about the benefits of learning within the shared education partnership.
• Safeguarding arrangements were found to “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education.”

Areas to improve

• The employing authority, governors, and staff must plan for and manage issues related to the “sustainability of the school provision and school budget.”
• The ETI was unable to evaluate outcomes, provision, or leadership, meaning these areas remain unassessed and require future scrutiny.

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education” and that children feel safe, though the ETI was “unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements” due to the industrial action.
