Kettlewell Primary School

Overview

Kettlewell Primary School continues to be a good school, offering an ambitious curriculum within a supportive federation of four small primary schools. Pupils thrive in a caring, inclusive environment where they feel safe, behave well, and are eager to learn. Leaders maintain high expectations for achievement, ensuring all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, access a broad and balanced education.

Strengths

• Pupils are "fluent, confident readers who love to read," supported by effective phonics training and rapid interventions for those at risk.
• The curriculum is "logical and sequenced," with staff using regular checks to quickly address misconceptions and gaps in learning.
• Pupils with SEND "access the same knowledge-rich curriculum as their peers" and progress well due to successful lesson adaptations.
• Behaviour is "exemplary," with pupils being "self-motivated and eager to learn" and displaying high levels of independence in Reception.
• The school enriches pupils’ "cultural capital" through performances, trips, and "Federation Fridays" that connect peers across the federation.

Areas to improve

• The school must ensure it provides opportunities for pupils to extend their learning in mathematics "consistently across school," as current strategies are not yet fully implemented in key stage 2.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
