Check the area around this school
204th of 217 primary schools in Staffordshire we can score, 310 in total — the rest without enough published data. Local and same-phase on purpose: a national table mostly measures who attends.
Its results hold up when the comparison narrows to schools whose pupils have similar backgrounds — 0.4/10 against 2,013 of them, against 0.6/10 nationally. So this is not simply a reflection of who attends. Both figures are results only, without the inspection grade. A lower figure here means a stronger comparison group, not a weaker school.
How this is worked out
| Measure | Percentile | Weight | Adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Expected standard (RWM) 2024/25 | 32.0 · 4 | 40% | 0.14 |
| Ofsted | 52 | 35% | 1.82 |
| Higher standard (RWM) 2024/25 | 0.0 · 10 | 25% | 0.26 |
Each measure is read as a position among comparable schools, so a school in the middle of the country scores 5. Full method.

What Ofsted said about Knutton St Marys CofE Academy
Overview
This ungraded inspection found that aspects of the school’s work “may not be as strong as at the time of the previous inspection,” triggering a future graded inspection. Despite past leadership turbulence, the school is now stable, with a “warm and friendly” culture where staff and pupils live out values of “forgiveness, generosity, respect, kindness and peace.”
Strengths
- Safeguarding arrangements are “effective.”
- Staff set “high expectations” for behaviour, and vulnerable pupils receive support to stay calm.
- The curriculum has been revised so most subjects “clearly set out the important concepts, knowledge and vocabulary.”
- Phonics is taught daily, and “most pupils learn to read with accuracy and fluency by the end of Year 2.”
- Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities are “identified early” and supported effectively by well-trained staff.
Areas to improve
- The curriculum in “a few subjects” is not coherently set out, preventing pupils from building secure knowledge.
- Not all staff possess the required subject knowledge to teach all subjects effectively.
- Checks on pupils’ learning are not used effectively, leading to unaddressed gaps in knowledge.
- Too many pupils are regularly absent, causing them to miss important learning.
Safeguarding
The report states that “the arrangements for safeguarding are effective.”
