La Chouette School

Overview: La Chouette School provides a happy and safe environment for children to learn, with a strong focus on bilingual education. Children are encouraged to be curious, persistent, and proud of their work, and they show positive attitudes to learning.

Strengths:

• Children are happy and safe at the school, with staff providing warmth and security.
• The school has high expectations for children's learning and behaviour, and children rise to these expectations.
• The school provides a rich bilingual environment, with children encouraged to use both English and French with increasing confidence.
• Staff generally model language well, and children are motivated to repeat and use new vocabulary.
• The school supports children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), with staff adapting teaching to individual needs and working closely with parents and external professionals.

Areas to improve:

• Interactions between staff and children are not consistently effective in building on children's prior learning, which can result in the curriculum not being delivered as intended and children not learning all that they could.
• On occasion, some children find sharing challenging, and staff respond calmly to help children manage their emotions.
