Leamington Hastings Church of England Academy

Overview

Leamington Hastings Church of England Academy is described as a "welcoming, caring school" where the vision to "plant, grow and flourish" is a "daily reality for pupils." The report states that pupils are happy, feel safe, and demonstrate strong personal development, with an "exemplary" focus on preparing them for life beyond their immediate experiences.

Strengths

• Pupils understand and apply simple rules of "ready, safe and respect," showing consideration for each other and playing well together.
• Leaders have created an "ambitious curriculum" with clear knowledge goals, ensuring staff know "what to teach, and when to teach it."
• Reading is a high priority, with structured phonics and engaging storytelling helping pupils read with "increased fluency and confidence."
• The school works closely with parents and agencies to support pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), enabling them to "access the curriculum and make progress."
• Staff feel "well supported" and are "proud to work at the school," while pupils take on responsibilities such as being "health and safety monitor[s]" or part of the "eco team."

Areas to improve

• Some pupil work does not support them to "demonstrate a deep understanding of some of the key concepts across the curriculum," meaning some pupils struggle to recall important knowledge.
• The school should ensure staff "further develop their knowledge to support pupils to deepen and recall key learning."

Safeguarding

The report states that "the arrangements for safeguarding are effective."
