The inspection was significantly constrained by industrial action, with teaching staff refusing to cooperate with inspectors. Consequently, the ETI states it is “unable to assure... of the quality of education being provided” and assigns “No performance level available” for outcomes, provision, and leadership. The school is designated a “high priority for future inspection with no further notice.”

Strengths

• Governors are “well informed about the life and work of the school” and exercise their challenge function to support improvement.
• The school development plan is informed by “appropriate consultation with all stakeholders” and data analysis.
• A small group of Year 7 children demonstrated “enjoyment of reading” and could read with “fluency and confidence.”
• These same children showed “good knowledge and understanding of key numerical concepts.”
• Non-teaching staff reported “high levels of satisfaction” with their roles.

Areas to improve

• The ETI was unable to evaluate the quality of the curriculum, teaching, learning, assessment, or care and welfare.
• The impact and effectiveness of strategic and middle leadership could not be fully evaluated.
• The school must address the inability to assure quality of education, as the ETI could not evaluate progression or wider skills.

Safeguarding

The report notes that “satisfactory arrangements for safeguarding reflect broadly the guidance issued by the relevant Departments,” though the ETI was “unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements.”
