Loanhead Primary School

Overview

The inspection team found that the new headteacher has established a “clear vision” and a “positive climate of empowerment” for the school community. However, evaluations for all four quality indicators were rated as “weak,” indicating that the school requires “additional support and more time to make necessary improvements.”

Strengths

• The new headteacher is providing a “strong foundation for improvement and change” and fostering a supportive environment.
• Children are described as “mannerly and respectful,” showing they are “very proud of their school” and “eager to learn.”

Areas to improve

• The headteacher must work with stakeholders to increase opportunities for leadership, ensuring children, parents, and staff are more involved in “influencing and leading change.”
• Teachers should deliver “more engaging and appropriately challenging tasks” to accelerate progress, while senior leaders ensure a “clear whole-school strategic approach” to inclusion and wellbeing.
• Staff must improve the “consistency of assessments” to ensure reliable judgements and focus on raising attainment in literacy and numeracy.

Safeguarding

The report states that senior leaders and staff should “ensure children who require additional support for learning are fully included and access their full entitlement to education” and promote “equality and inclusion for all children.”
