Longford Park School

Overview

Longford Park School requires improvement in overall effectiveness, the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, and leadership and management. However, the school is good at providing personal development for its pupils.

Strengths

• Pupils feel welcomed and well cared for at Longford Park, which helps them feel safe and happy.
• Staff build positive relationships with pupils, and where relationships are strong, staff manage and support behaviour more effectively.
• The school provides pupils with many opportunities to learn about life in modern Britain, including learning about different religions and how to keep themselves physically and mentally healthy.
• Pupils enjoy taking part in trips outside of their lessons, which helps them learn about how to keep themselves safe in different situations.

Areas to improve

• Governors do not have systems in place to consider the quality and impact of the curriculum on pupils' achievement, which means they are not aware of the weaknesses that exist in the curriculum.
• The school has not ensured that some teachers have received the necessary training to implement aspects of the intended curriculum successfully, which means the curriculum is not delivered consistently in some subjects and assessment strategies are at times ineffective.
• The school's expectations for pupils' behaviour and conduct are not clear enough, and staff do not manage pupils' behaviour with enough consistency, which means that disruption or a lack of pupils' engagement is not challenged consistently.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
