• Reading is prioritised through a “well-structured programme” with swift interventions, enabling pupils to “practise reading fluently with confidence.”
• Pupils enjoy a “wide variety of experiences that enrich the curriculum,” such as visits to museums and working with authors.
• Personal development is strong, with pupils learning to be “tolerant and kind” and understanding healthy relationships and eating.

Areas to improve

• In some recently reviewed subjects, “teachers’ subject knowledge is not as secure as it could be,” and they do not always use the most effective strategies to help pupils connect ideas.
• The school needs to “continue to develop staff’s subject knowledge and their understanding of highly effective teaching strategies” so that all pupils achieve well across the whole curriculum.
• While attendance is generally positive, the school must continue its work to improve the attendance of the few pupils who “do not attend school as well as they should.”
