Manor Park School

Overview

The inspection highlights a significant contrast between the nursery class and the primary school. While the nursery is praised for high-quality learning and strong relationships, the primary school’s work in learning, teaching, and assessment is evaluated as “weak”. Consequently, the school requires additional support and will undergo a further inspection within one year.

Strengths

• The headteacher and staff are described as “caring and supportive” who know children and families “very well”.
• Nursery practitioners provide “high-quality learning experiences” that are “relevant and meaningful”, resulting in children being “highly motivated, engaged and make very good progress”.
• Staff collaborate effectively with partner agencies to support children’s “emotional wellbeing”, which is improving their “readiness for learning”.

Areas to improve

• Leaders and teachers must review approaches to ensure “high-quality, well-planned learning and teaching” matched to individual needs.
• Senior leaders need to improve “attainment in literacy and numeracy” and help teachers develop confidence in making “accurate professional judgements” about progress.
• Staff must agree on shared expectations to improve “behaviour and engagement”, while leaders improve how they measure progress over time.

Safeguarding

The report states that staff work well with partner agencies to support children’s emotional wellbeing, contributing to improved readiness for learning.
