Overview

The report highlights an "exceptional" approach to personal development and "especially strong" sixth-form provision, noting that the academic curriculum has improved since the last inspection. Leaders foster a "kind, safe and respectful culture" that helps pupils build confidence and prepare for future life.

Strengths

• Personal development is described as "exceptional," with staff expertly helping pupils manage their mental health and character.
• Sixth-form provision is "exceptionally strong," allowing older pupils to choose bespoke qualifications matched to their aptitudes.
• Teaching reading has improved significantly through a consistent approach using "systematic, synthetic phonics."
• Staff use a "personalised, nurturing approach" to build trust, helping pupils who previously had long absences attend regularly.
• The school maintains a "calm and friendly" atmosphere, with reduced incidents of poor behaviour due to targeted staff training.

Areas to improve

• The school must ensure all academic subjects are "consistently well designed and delivered to a high standard," as inconsistent teaching approaches in some recently redesigned subjects mean some pupils are not learning as well as they should.
