Milton Primary School

Overview

Inspectors visited Milton Primary School in September 2022 and found a school with a “positive and nurturing ethos” where staff and children interact with respect and teamwork. The report evaluates the school’s work on learning, teaching, assessment, and raising attainment as “good,” noting that the school has the capacity to continue improving without further inspection visits.

Strengths

• The headteacher and staff have established a culture where the ‘Heart of Milton’ values, including hard work and respect, are “evident in all adult and child interactions.”
• Children are described as “friendly, polite, well behaved” and are “keen to talk to adults about their learning,” while also supporting one another thoughtfully.
• Teachers use “effective approaches” to integrate digital technologies into learning and teaching, with strong support from the headteacher to build on these skills.

Areas to improve

• Teachers should ensure that children have “consistently high quality learning experiences across the school” that provide an appropriate level of challenge for all pupils.
• Teachers should plan more effectively to assess how well children apply their learning in new situations.
