Moat Primary School

Overview

This sustaining improvement inspection was conducted during industrial action involving 'action short of strike', meaning teachers did not cooperate with inspectors. Consequently, the ETI was unable to fully evaluate the quality of learning, teaching, or the school’s capacity for improvement. The report concludes that the inspectorate cannot assure parents of the quality of education provided and has designated the school a 'high priority for future inspection'.

Strengths

• Year 6 children are described as 'confident and skilled' in their leadership roles as digital leaders and within the School- and Eco-council.
• These pupils have the opportunity to meet with governors and 'contribute to the life of the school'.
• The school provided evidence that safeguarding arrangements 'reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education'.
• Year 6 pupils reported that they 'feel happy and safe in school' and know who to talk to if concerned.

Areas to improve

• The report states the ETI was 'unable to evaluate fully' the line of inquiry and the quality of learning and teaching due to non-cooperation.
• The school is identified as a 'high priority for future inspection with no further notice' because the current inspection could not assure stakeholders of educational quality.

Safeguarding

The report notes that while arrangements broadly reflect Department of Education guidance and pupils feel safe, the ETI was 'unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements for safeguarding' due to the industrial action.
