Muckhart Primary School

Overview

Education Scotland inspectors visited Muckhart Primary School in June 2025 and found the school to be performing well across all four quality indicators, each evaluated as "good". The report highlights a positive, inclusive environment where children are enthusiastic and staff work effectively as a team. Inspectors expressed confidence that the school has the capacity to continue improving without further visits.

Strengths

• Children are described as "enthusiastic, confident" and clearly demonstrate school values, engaging well in learning across the curriculum.
• Staff provide "nurturing and supportive approaches" that create an inclusive environment, being "sensitive and responsive to the wellbeing of children".
• Staff work effectively as a team and are "keen to develop their individual and collective skills" to improve outcomes.
• Teachers "maximise opportunities to take learning outdoors", allowing children to enjoy learning in a range of environments within and beyond the school.

Areas to improve

• The headteacher and staff should further develop approaches to measure the impact of interventions on children’s progress to better evaluate improvement.
• Teachers would benefit from increased opportunities to work with colleagues from other schools to support a shared understanding of national standards.
• Staff should develop children’s ability to identify and talk about the skills they are developing across the curriculum and wider school experiences.

Safeguarding

The report states that staff approaches are "sensitive and responsive to the wellbeing of children," creating an "inclusive and positive learning environment."
