Muriel Green Nursery School

Overview

Muriel Green Nursery School continues to be a good school, described as a "happy and nurturing place to learn." Children develop into "confident, independent learners" through self-chosen activities and positive relationships with adults who support their curiosity and care.

Strengths

• Children engage enthusiastically in "discover" and "do" sessions, feeling safe to "take risks in their learning."
• Staff effectively support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) to access learning alongside peers.
• Communication is central to the curriculum, with staff well-trained to "deepen children’s learning" through questioning and modelling language.
• There is a strong focus on fostering a "love of reading," with children actively seeking out stories and real-life experiences.
• Governors ensure staff have "well-considered opportunities to develop professionally," and staff are proud to work at the school.

Areas to improve

• In a few areas of learning, planning is "less precise," meaning staff do not routinely have a clear understanding of what to teach.
• Consequently, children in these areas do not secure "important knowledge and vocabulary as well as they could."
• The school needs to identify key knowledge and vocabulary in all areas so staff can teach the curriculum "highly effectively."

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
