Newbridge Learning Community

Overview

Newbridge Learning Community continues to be a good school, providing a safe and supportive environment for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities. The report highlights that pupils feel well cared for, enjoy practical lessons, and achieve nationally recognised qualifications through a broad and ambitious curriculum.

Strengths

• Pupils feel safe, trusted, and well supported, with staff helping them manage emotions and behaviour effectively.
• The curriculum is carefully designed to address individual needs, allowing pupils to catch up on knowledge gaps and gain confidence.
• There is a strong culture of reading, with a vast range of age-appropriate books and targeted support for those needing additional help.
• Attendance has improved significantly due to the school’s persistent work with parents and external organisations to overcome barriers.
• Personal development is highly effective, preparing pupils well for adulthood through activities like mock interviews and first aid training.

Areas to improve

• In a small number of subjects, the curriculum does not clearly define what pupils need to learn, hindering knowledge progression.
• Staff in some subjects lack necessary training and support, leading to pupil disengagement and reduced learning outcomes.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
