North Baddesley Infant School

Overview

North Baddesley Infant School continues to be a good school, characterised by a nurturing ethos and strong community spirit. The inspection confirms that pupils enjoy attending, behave well, and receive high-quality support, particularly in reading and for those with special educational needs.

Strengths

• The school’s vision of ‘Growing Together - Learning for Life’ is well embedded, fostering ‘respect, resilience and independence’.
• Pupils engage well in learning, with a consistent behaviour approach using the phrase ‘Ready, Respectful, Safe’.
• The phonics scheme is delivered with fidelity, helping pupils build confidence in decoding and understanding text.
• Disadvantaged pupils and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are supported well with personalised provision.
• Staff demonstrate genuine care, and parents are very positive about the school’s inclusive ethos.

Areas to improve

• Not all subjects have a clear sequence of key knowledge, skills, and vocabulary from Nursery Year through to Year 2.
• Leaders need to ensure that key knowledge and skills are thoughtfully sequenced in all subjects and year groups to enable better tracking of pupil progress.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective, with a clear, strong culture adopted by all staff, thorough training, and timely referrals to wider agencies.
