North Crawley CofE School

Overview

North Crawley CofE School continues to be a good school, fulfilling its vision of ‘inspiring learners, growing together’ in a nurturing environment. Leaders and staff maintain high expectations, ensuring pupils achieve well within a calm, positive atmosphere where they feel ‘safe, joyful and confident’. The school benefits from robust governance and strong community links, with parents describing it as ‘beautiful, friendly and supportive’.

Strengths

• Early years provision is excellent, with children making a ‘strong start’ as language and mathematical skills ‘blossom for all’.
• Reading is ‘highly prioritised from the start’, supported by effective phonics teaching and ‘precisely matched books’.
• Support for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) is a strength, ensuring all access the whole curriculum.
• The curriculum is ‘ambitious and broad’, offering engaging opportunities such as outdoor learning and visits to museums.
• Attendance is now ‘higher than the national average’, reflecting successful efforts to reduce absence.

Areas to improve

• The school should help staff design tasks that are ‘sharply focused on supporting pupils to learn and remember important content successfully over time’, as some activities do not ensure all pupils retain key knowledge with precision.
