Overview: Norwich Steiner School is a positive, respectful community where pupils enjoy a specialised curriculum that promotes creativity and independence. Pupils are confident, articulate individuals ready for their next steps by the time they reach the sixth form.

Strengths:

• The school's curriculum is sensitively designed around the principles linked to Steiner Waldorf education, covering a range of subjects that overlap, inter-link and build pupils' knowledge over time.
• Staff have secure knowledge about how the Steiner Waldorf curriculum works, and specialist subject teachers know their subjects well.
• Pupils experience a raft of varied subjects like music, craft, social science, science and mathematics, with each subject building pupil knowledge from Kindergarten to the sixth form class.
• Pupils make good progress through the curriculum, with their progress regularly shared with pupils and their parents.
• The school complies fully with schedule 10 of the Equality Act 2010, and pupils have a good understanding about diversity.

Areas to improve:

• Some of the information around some pupils' needs is not detailed enough to be helpful to staff or the school, making it harder for pupils with SEND to progress through the curriculum.
• In a minority of cases, some lessons are not adapted around pupils' needs, making learning harder for some pupils with SEND.
